FAQ

Questions farmers ask us

Straight answers. If yours isn’t here, email us — we reply within a business day.

Do I have to talk to a salesperson?

No. The Get Started form is the whole intake. We’ll email you questions if we have any, build the site, and send you a link to review. If you’d rather talk, book a call from the confirmation email — but nobody will cold-call you.

I’m not a “real” farm — we have 12 acres and a pumpkin patch. Is this for me?

Yes. Most of our customers are small, family-run and seasonal. If you sell something you grow or raise directly to the public, this is built for you.

Do I own the website?

Yes. The design, content and domain are yours. If you ever leave, we export everything and hand it over. The monthly fee covers hosting, security, backups and changes — not a licence to your own site.

Can you use my existing ordering system (Barn2Door, Local Line, Square, Shopify)?

Yes, that’s the normal case. We integrate what you already use rather than making you switch. If you don’t have one yet, we’ll recommend the cheapest option that fits how you sell.

What do I need to provide?

Your logo if you have one (we can make a simple one if not), photos, and answers to the intake form. We write the copy from your answers. Most farms spend about two hours total.

How fast can it launch?

Roadside sites typically launch within 2 weeks of your intake; Harvest in 3–4 weeks; Homestead in 6–8. If you’re up against a season opener, tell us and we’ll prioritise.

What if I just need a few changes to my current site?

We don’t do one-off fixes on sites we didn’t build — it’s almost always cheaper to rebuild on our platform and get hosting and changes included. If you have a genuinely good site that just needs ordering added, email us and we’ll be honest about it.

Is there a contract?

The setup fee is one-time. The monthly plan is month-to-month after the first 6 months. Cancel by email any time after that.

Will I show up on Google?

For searches people actually make — “pumpkin patch near Northfield”, “grass fed beef Stearns County”, “CSA Duluth” — yes, that’s what the pages are built for. We set up your Google Business Profile, structured data and location pages. We don’t promise rankings for generic national terms.

Where are you located?

Roseville, Minnesota, and we work with farms in every state. Everything is done by email and video — the intake, the review, the training.

Can I update the site myself?

Hours, the status banner and weekly updates — yes, from your phone, with no way to break anything. Bigger changes you email to us; they’re included in your plan. Farms that want full page-builder access are better served by a DIY platform, and we’ll say so.

Do you build on WordPress?

No. Our platform is purpose-built for farm sites: faster, nothing to update, nothing to get hacked. If you ever leave we export your content and design so another developer can use them.

Can you move my existing domain and email?

Yes. We handle DNS and domain transfers, and set up email forwarding or help you move to Google Workspace or Microsoft 365. Your domain stays registered in your name.

What about photos? Mine aren’t great.

Phone photos taken the way we suggest in our guide are usually fine. Until you have them we use our farm illustration set, which is what you see on this site. Homestead includes photography direction and a shot list.

Do you write the copy?

Yes, from your intake answers, in your voice. You review every word before launch.

Do you do social media or ads?

No. We make sure your site, Google profile and social links work together, and our guides cover what to post. Ad campaigns and social management aren’t something we sell.

What happens if I stop paying?

After six months the plan is month-to-month. If you cancel we give you a full export of your content, images and design files, and 30 days to move your domain. We don’t hold sites hostage.

Is my customer data safe?

Orders and payments are handled by the ordering platform (Square, Barn2Door etc.), which are PCI-compliant; we never store card numbers. Form submissions are stored securely and emailed to you. See our privacy policy.

Ready for a website that sells what you grow?

Ten minutes on our intake form. A complete site to review in about ten business days. No sales calls, ever.
